Dear Member,

We would like to inform you that EBAA has agreed to become a Partner to the forthcoming Aviation Carbon 2017 conference that is being held at the Heathrow Marriott Hotel in London on Monday and Tuesday, December 4 and 5.

The conference will look in detail at the latest developments on the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) that was agreed by Member States of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) at their Assembly a year ago. Since then, work has continued within ICAO on developing regulations that will underpin the scheme. While CORSIA does not take full effect until the end of 2020, all airlines and the bigger business aircraft operators conducting international flights will need to start preparing from next year. They will also need to understand how the carbon markets operate and what carbon offsets will be eligible under the scheme.

Aviation Carbon 2017 will bring aircraft operators together with MRV and carbon market professionals, plus other CORSIA stakeholders, to discuss and inform on what is the first global market-based climate measure for any industrial sector. The conference will also look at the implications for other national and regional climate schemes such as the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and the role of sustainable alternative fuels in achieving the aviation industry’s carbon targets.

The organisers emphasise there will be a strong practical element to the conference, and members will get the opportunity to seek guidance from CORSIA experts.

In line with the aviation industry’s “Countdown to CORSIA” campaign to help ensure both operators and airlines are aware of their obligations under the scheme, we are lending our support to Aviation Carbon 2017 and I, Bruce Parry will be speaking at the event on behalf of EBAA members. Details of the conference can be found at www.aviationcarbon.aero.

As a Partner member, you are entitled to an extra 50% discount on the already heavily discounted delegate rates. The rates can be found on the registration page at www.aviationcarbon.aero/registration. When registering, enter the discount code 17-EBAA when prompted. If you have any questions concerning registration, please email registration@aviationcarbon.aero.

We encourage you to join us at the conference in early December.

Kind regards,

Bruce PARRY
